Electric

Recording electric instruments is done either using direct inputs or by miking the amplified signal.

Our computer system and MIDI studio are well designed for use in making electronic music of any style. Solo artists can take advantage of our wide range of professional sound samples, hardware synthesizers, and software synths/samplers and effects.

Direct inputs
D.I. can be done by patching the instrument directly into the mixer or preamp from where the signal can be routed to effects and into the hard disk recording system.

Our valve preamps all have D.I. inputs.which give wampth, gain, and full sound to anything from electric bass guitar to synthesizer outputs.

Miked Electric
But D.I. isn't suitable for all electric instruments, in particular the electric guitar. Unless musicians actually prefer the sound of D.I., we will advise to mic their guitar amp instead.

We set up the amp in the live room with one or more classic mics, like the MD421 or SM57, which are placed in different positions to pick up the full-throttle amp sound.
